Vertical platform lifts bypass stairs for any wheelchair passenger with a handicap, making for a great option in home and commercial spaces.

Picking out the right type of vertical platform lifts for your home or business, can be essential so that you can provide easy wheelchair access. Let’s face it, not every place is designed for wheel chairs, and sometimes you’re going to have to adapt your structure for everyday use to coincide with your disability, or that of a family member or close friend. That means you’re going to need to install the right type of structure to allow them, or yourself easy access, without the hassle that wheelchair ramps can create. That makes vertical platform lifts your best possible choice in any scenario.

The major advantage of vertical platform lifts is simply that they enable you to actually get from one floor to another with total ease, and completely bypassing the stairs. What’s more, they also enable you to actually be lifted complete with the wheelchair, so that you never have to get up, or squeeze into an awkwardly small space, just to use the lift. This is remarkably convenient, and ensures that your mobility is no longer limited by the location. However, you will still want to be sure that you have the right type of lift, based upon your individual needs.

When it comes to any type of vertical platform lifts, you want to be sure that they are large enough, and that you can accommodate their size. You’ll find that typically, the average lift size that you can expect to run into, is going to be around 4 feet. That means it’s large enough for a wheel chair to get in without a problem, and for anyone else, like the operator, to ride along as well. You can make them larger, but you don’t want to make them much smaller, otherwise, you’re going to start running short on room very quickly.

What’s more, you need to be sure that any vertical platform lifts you install, can also cope with the amount of people that will be riding at any one time. For safety reasons, you need to respect the weight limitation of your machine’s motor. When riding with too many people, the lift may not be able to work, or worse, it can stop working in mid climb, which can be a catastrophe. For that reason, you want to be sure that you know your weight limit beforehand, so that you can restrict use to only a certain number of people at a time. This way, you can be sure that you’re able to operate the lift safely, and you never run the risk of any type of injury, because of carelessness.

When it comes to actually buying any type of vertical platform lifts, you’re usually going to be looking at ordering your items online. Through sites like GraingerIndustrialSupplies.com you can find great commercial lifts, that are ideal for business use. Otherwise, you can also go through a site like TopMobility.com, to find the best possible vertical platform lifts for residential use. They may be smaller and not quite so powerful, but they will allow you to get around your own home, with the greatest of ease.

Residential elevators are a great luxury option for any home, with passenger lifts suited to meet the needs of your house setup.

Picking out the right type of residential elevators can be essential, when you have trouble managing your stairs at home. Losing your mobility is hard for anyone, but it can become a possibility for the elderly, or for anyone with certain disabilities. For that reason, having the right type of solution in the home to aide you, without taking the solution out of your hands, is ideal. With residential elevators installed in your home, you’ll be able to get throughout your entire house all under your own power, and just with a little bit of assistance from your appliances. It’s just a matter of choosing the right type for your home, so that you can ensure you have the most ideal asset.

When it comes to any type of residential elevators, the biggest factor is in choosing the right type for your home. You’ll find that there are a variety of different types of models, and you want to make the right choice for the layout of your home. If you have a smaller house, with just one upstairs area, usually the best option are platform residential elevators. These are special types of devices which actually feature a platform that raises itself, using a special system of gears. They are only capable of going about 8 feet high, and sometime slightly more. But they are a reliable system that’s ideal for two floor homes, so that you can get upstairs and down, with total ease.

Of course, when it comes to installing the right type of residential elevators in a larger home, you may be looking to something different entirely. When you have multiple floors, because you own a much larger home, you’re going to need something else. For that, you’ll probably want a hydraulic, or air pressure vacuum elevator. These are special types that use changes in pressure, to actually pump you up to higher levels, or let the pressure slowly release, in order to take you back down. They are capable of going much further than platform residential elevators as well, and can take you up to four stories high.

Otherwise, if you’re looking to install residential elevators in apartment buildings, or any other type of massive home area, you’re going to need something else entirely. For this, you’re going to want to have an elevator that can take you where you need to go, more reliably. That means you want to use a system of gears and pulleys, just like a real major building. This way, you can get anywhere you need to, in total confidence, without having to worry about the elevator giving out, or not being able to go the distance.

When it comes to having residential elevators of any kind installed, you’re always going to want to use a professional contractor of some sort. Installing these devices is a hard business, and you want to search a site like Google or Bing to find all the professionals in your area. From there, it’s as simple as calling all the residential elevators suppliers, to find the lowest cost, so that you can have your system installed as affordably as possible.

The glass elevator is a great residential or commercial passenger option, bringing to mind the lift from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Installing a glass elevator in your building can be a stylish way to really draw attention to your location, and ensure that your business is noticed like never before. You’ll find that these types of elevators are extremely useful for really adding that wow factor to any building, and ensuring that you’re able to create a positive environment that your workers or customers are going to feel very receptive to you. You’ll find that types of elevators like these are commonly used in a variety of different places, from major businesses like malls, to corporate office buildings as well. It’s just a matter of ensuring that you have the right type of glass elevator, for the area in which it will be installed.

The biggest factor in choosing the most ideal glass elevator, is just in the type that you would like to purchase. You’ll find that there are a variety of different kinds, and you want to choose the type that’s right for you, based upon the experience that you’re looking to create. You’ll find that some elevators can be made entirely, from floor to ceiling, with a special safety glass that’s practically unbreakable. But then you can also find elevators that simply feature glass walls, and have a sturdy metal ceiling as well as floor. The right type is just a matter of choosing the elevator that you feel provides the best experience.

You also want to choose the right system by which your elevator is going to be carried from place to place. You’ll find that there are a variety of different methods by which glass elevator models can be pulled from one floor to another, and you want to choose the right kind for the size of your building. You’ll find that the most common types, are through the pulley systems, in which powerful pulleys actually pull the elevator up, or slowly release to descend the cart. These types are ideal for major buildings, and are just what you need if you’ve got a long way for the elevator to travel up and down.

Of course, you also want to be sure that you go with the right type of glass elevator for a smaller building as well. If your building only comprises a few floors, you want to go with a different type of elevator that’s more made for smaller buildings. In that case, you want to go with hydraulic models, which actually function off of air pressure. These are ideal for buildings with 8 or fewer floors, and are capable of getting the job done in the same way that a commercial pulley system might.

Having your glass elevator installed always means you want to go through a commercial contractor. That’s where you’ll be able to order the elevator, as well as have the work performed for you.. But this is going to be costly, so you’re going to want to get quotes from multiple construction companies. This way, you can find the lowest price for your glass elevator, so that you can install great style in your building, without having to totally break the bank.

Metal stairs come in different forms including steel, wrought iron, and aluminum, making durable and sleek looking stairways.

There are many features in a home that can add to the overall appeal of the property and one of these is the stair case. There are various options for this and staircases are available that can be used inside and out to get between the various floors in a property. While wood was the traditional material used for staircases, these days’ metal stairs are an option and these can be a practical addition to a property.

Metal stairs are available in a variety of styles and can typically be used as an option for most staircase locations. The most common style is the open staircase where treads are used for stepping on but no risers are included such that you can effectively see through the staircase. A number of materials can be used to fashion stairs from metal with steel, aluminum and iron being some of those used.

Inside the home the most common type of metal stairs used are spiral stairs. These comprise a set of steps which are wound around a central pole. These can be a decorative addition to a home and many people like them as a space saving option for their property. While metal can be used for a set of straight stairs inside a home this is less common. However they can be used as pull down stairs to gain access to a loft or attic space.

Exterior stairs on a property are typically made from metal and these can be used for a number of purposes. This includes gaining access to a first floor balcony from the garden and also leading up to a front door in properties that are built higher off the ground. Both spiral and straight metal staircases can be used for this purpose. If you want a fire escape on the exterior of your home the most common type will be constructed of metal.

Metal stairs are also commonly used in commercial and industrial settings. This can include in warehouses, factories, large supermarkets and other similar properties. There are a few advantages to using metal for a staircase. It is a strong, durable material that will typically last for a number of years. It is also relatively maintenance free and should remain in good condition with the minimum of effort require for this. They are usually easy to install with most being supplied in parts that are relatively simple to assemble.

If you decide to install a metal staircase there are many places these can be purchased. Salter Spiral Stair is an option for a spiral staircase and they produce staircases in aluminum, forged iron and steel. Lapeyre Stairs produce a range of prefabricated metal stairs which are designed for industrial and commercial properties while Artistic Iron Works produce a range of metal stairways for residential use.

Metal stairs can be a simple addition to a home or commercial building. They are generally simple to install and should remain in safe working order for many years. Whether used inside or out they can provide an attractive and practical addition to your property and this makes them a good choice of staircase.

Outdoor stair railings for a deck or other staircase location are a great touch, with aluminum, wrought iron, wood and more to choose from.

While stairs are a practical feature that most properties will need they can also be a location in or around a property which have potential to cause an accident. It therefore pays to make the stairs at your home or office as safe as possible. This is especially the case on outdoor stairs which can be sited in hard paving areas and therefore the consequences of a fall can be more serious. To improve safety it is therefore sensible to use outdoor stair railings on exterior staircases.

Installing outdoor stair railings has a few benefits. Safety is obviously the main benefit and having a hand rail to hold on to when going up or down the steps can help to prevent accidental falls. It should therefore be considered whatever size of outdoor staircase you have. Railings can be used for staircases in a number of outdoor locations such as patio stairs leading to a garden, stairs used to access a first floor balcony from ground level or stairs leading up to the main door of a property.

As well as safety, outdoor stair railings can also be used as a decorative feature to improve the look of the exterior of a property. They are produced in a number of attractive styles and this can vary from a standard straight post railing to highly decorative and ornate looks. Stair railings for outdoor use can be produced in both wood and metal. Metal is typically the most common option with aluminum, wrought iron and steel being commonly used. However wood railings are also available if this is more in keeping with the style of the property.

If you decide to install outdoor stair railings at your property there are a number of companies that produce stairway components. Some of those to consider include Stair Supplies, Stair Warehouse and Stair Service. These companies have a range of railings available that can be used on outside stairs and these are available in a variety of materials.

Typically a railing is made up of balusters which are the vertical posts and a handrail which is affixed to the top of the balusters. It is possible to buy these separately or as a single unit. Some of the things you need to consider when purchasing railings include the height of the railing which needs to be convenient for people to reach out and comfortably hold the handrail. The thickness of the handrail should also be considered since it needs to be convenient for easy gripping to help stop a fall if someone trips. It can be a good idea to contact your local building department as they will typically have codes giving standard specifications for outdoor railings and it is best to comply with these.

Outdoor stair railings can be a decorative feature to add to the exterior stairs around your home. They are also a practical addition as they will improve the safety of the stairs and help to prevent accidents. It can therefore be a good idea to install them and is something to be considered if you have outdoor stairs at your property.

Spiral stairs are a classic stairway form, with metal makes like steel, aluminum, and iron, and wooden staircases a great choice as well.

Residential homes or commercial properties that have two or more floors need a means of getting from one to another. The way in which this is usually done is with a staircase. The most common type is a straight staircase although these can typically take up a lot of floor space. This can be a disadvantage in most properties although particularly so in a smaller home or office. However there are alternatives to a straight staircase with spiral stairs being one of these.

Spiral stairs are a style of staircase which is constructed of steps that wrap tightly around a central column. They will generally be built to include a handrail for safety and they can be an excellent space saving option for a home or office. They typically take up much less space than a standard straight staircase and this is one of their great advantages, as they free up floor space which can be better used. This can make a home more spacious to live in.

As well as taking up less space, another benefit of spiral stairs is that they are decorative and, in themselves, can provide an attractive feature which can improve the look of a home. They can be manufactured of wood to provide a more traditional look or for a more contemporary feel various types of metal can be used. Some of the metals commonly used include steel, aluminum and forged iron. It is possible to use a spiral staircase internally in a property to connect two floors and wood or metal can be used for these. It is also possible to use spiral staircases on the exterior of a building to gain access to first floor balconies for example and metal is the more common option for this.

If you decide that spiral stairs would be an appropriate addition to your home there are a number of manufacturers that produce them. Salter Spiral Stair is one of these and they produce a wide range in wood and metal from which to choose. Prices for their standard spiral staircases start at around $670 for a basic steel staircase. However this price can rise into the thousands of dollars depending on the size and type of materials used in the construction. Prices for their aluminum deck stairs, for example, start around the $3,700 mark.

Another company that manufactures spiral stairs is Stairways Incorporated. They can install a custom built spiral staircase and also produce spiral staircase kits in a variety of materials for internal and external use.
A stair climber is available in the form of many steppers, giving you equipment and machines to make climbing steps and stairways easy.

While climbing stairs is an everyday task that most people take for granted, it can be something that is not so easily done for others. For those involved in jobs that require heavy lifting, getting loads up and down stairs where a lift is not available can be a difficult task. Getting up and down stairs is also more difficult for those that are infirm or need the use of a wheelchair. However devices have been developed to ease these problems and make getting up and down stairs easier with a stair climber being one of these.

Stair climber products come in a few different varieties. There are those that are specifically designed for use with wheelchairs. The aim of these is to make it easier and more comfortable for those that are wheelchair bound to get up and down stairs. While many modern public buildings that are constructed tend to be wheelchair friendly and include ramps, this is not true of all buildings and many can still provide access by stairs only. This can be frustrating for those in a wheelchair who can find it difficult to access many buildings.

Bumping a wheelchair up and down stairs is not particularly safe or comfortable and a simpler solution is to use a stair climber. These are generally battery operated devices that can be fitted onto a wheelchair although some modern wheelchairs have them in-built. An example of a device that can be fitted to most standard wheelchairs is the Scalamobil from Frank Mobility Systems. This is a small electric device with four rotating wheels at the base of the unit. As the wheel chair is pulled up to a step the wheels rotate and smoothly lift the chair up to the next step. The electric motor does all the work and the person pulling the wheelchair only needs to guide it. The device is suitable on all types of staircase and can move a wheelchair up and down steps which are a height of 4 to 8 inches. On one charge the battery of the device is generally capable of moving a wheelchair up 300 steps. The device costs in the region of $6,000 to purchase.

For those that work in occupations where lifting heavy loads up and down stairs is required there are also stair climber hand trucks on the market which can make this a much easier task. These can typically be manually belt or wheel driven or battery operated and some of the companies that produce these include Global Industrial, Northern Tool and Wesco. The most affordable tend to be the manually operated systems with the Industrial Strength Steel Hand Truck with Stair Climbers from Global Industrial costing around $90. Battery powered stair climbing hand trucks are generally more expensive to purchase with some of these costing $1,000 plus.

For getting people and materials up and down stairways, a stair climber can be a useful accessory to have available. These can be designed to fit onto wheelchairs to move these more comfortably on stairs. They can also be used on hand trucks to make moving heavy loads up and down stairs an easier task. For both situations a stair climbing device is something to consider to help make life a little easier.

Wood stair treads come in many wooden forms for your steps, including hardwood, walnut, maple, oak, cherry and more.

Many homes and offices are built with at least two floors and this means that stairs are required to get between these. There are various options for staircase styles and this can range from a standard straight staircase through to more decorative spiral staircases. There are also a range of materials that can be used to construct the various components that make up a staircase. If your preference is for a more traditional look then wood stair treads are a good option to choose.

The tread is the part of a staircase that is stepped on. These can be manufactured in a variety of sizes which can vary in depth which is the measurement for the section that the foot is placed on. The riser is the vertical portion of a stair and the height of this can also vary for different staircases. The style of staircase will also be influenced by the tread with a full tread and riser used to make a solid staircase whereas an open staircase can be produced using treads with no riser.

The material used to produce treads can also vary and can include wood, metal and concrete. In many cases the stairs will be covered by a carpet or rug but an attractive style can be produced by using wood stair treads that are left uncovered. If you have wooden floors in your home, wood treads on the staircase can be used to match in. However no matter the type of flooring you have in your home a wooden staircase can provide an attractive feature which enhances the overall look of the property.

Whether you are installing a completely new staircase or looking to replace the treads on an older staircase, wood stair treads can be a good choice. When replacing an older staircase it is possible to rip out and replace the old staircase or a more affordable alternative is to retain the existing staircase and reface it with new wood treads.

If you want to use wood stair treads in your home there are a number of manufacturers that can produce these. Stair Supplies is an example of this. They can produce a range of treads in over 30 different types of wood providing a good selection to choose from. They produce new treads, replacement treads and false treads. The most affordable are false treads which are designed to fit over existing stairs to improve the look and these are available in a price range of around $10 to $25. New treads tend to be the most expensive with costs for these ranging from around $40 to $70 depending on the type of wood selected.

Other companies that manufacture wood stair treads include Stair-Treads, Stair Warehouse and Blackford & Sons Hardwood Stair Treads. These all produce a range of stair treads in a variety of wood species which provide a range of looks for the consumer to choose from.

If you are looking to create a traditional style in your property then wood stair treads are a design feature that can help with this. Wood is a durable and attractive material and it can provide a warm look for your home which will help to enhance the overall appearance.
